Nana & Grandpa at Nauvoo

This was an enjoyable time in Nauvoo with Nana &Grandpa. Here they gave the littlest princess her own Raggedy Ann doll and storybook and began to read to her some of the stories. She loves her Raggedy Ann.

The Herb Garden

There is a beautiful herb garden coming along in the basement. Yet, the thing that I think is neat is the little garden sticks which have hand drawn illustrations on them showing what seeds ate planted.

Ice Storm picture

Well this ice storm has not been as bad as predicted--thank goodness. We heard different crashing sounds on the roof from smaller branches breaking. Our persimmon tree branch broke and landed on the electric wire going to the outdoor utility light pole. The sun came out for a short period of time and created dazzling bright white from all the ice. It was beautiful.

The Blacksmith's Shop

The knight had recently had earned his metalworking merit badge and so visiting the blacksmiths was fun. The blacksmith made small horse shoes for everyone and let us all take a closer peak at the tools, etc. We also enjoyed the Christmas decorations too.

The Extremely Cold "Carriage" Ride

This picture is from the trip to Nauvoo when we thought we'd want to go on a carriage ride. It was extremely cold And there was a wind chill. I was so glad they had so many quilted blankets. We were a wrapped up like mummies. It was fun to look back on but at the moment it was not so good. It made me think of the pioneers and what they must have gone through to have to leave in the dead of winter. Brrrrrrrrr COLD!
