The Extremely Cold "Carriage" Ride

This picture is from the trip to Nauvoo when we thought we'd want to go on a carriage ride. It was extremely cold And there was a wind chill. I was so glad they had so many quilted blankets. We were a wrapped up like mummies. It was fun to look back on but at the moment it was not so good. It made me think of the pioneers and what they must have gone through to have to leave in the dead of winter. Brrrrrrrrr COLD!

yes, and the pioneers didnt have as many quilted blankets . . . it makes me think of the bloody footprints in the snow and the black toes from frostbite! boy we are so blessed! (not to lessen anything you said - )
